Cell Division

Where Do Cells Come From?

The fascinating thing about cells is their ability to make more of themselves. When cells divide, they create new cells.

Cell division is a process in which a parent cell divides into two (or more) daughter cells. Mitosis and meiosis are two different processes of cell division. Start the lesson by playing the video to grab students’ attention and produce better cognitive and effective learning outcomes.

Students will practice what they learned and compare the differences between mitosis and meiosis.

Activities:

  • Begin with myViewBoardClips to watch the video-assisted learning to build background and knowledge about how cell duplicate through the process of cell division.
  • Mitosis Cell Division Worksheet: Drag the chromosome to the right place.
  • Meiosis Cell Division Worksheet: Drag the chromosome to the right place.
  • Compare the differences between mitosis and meiosis.
