  • Identify the tens and ones in a 2-digit number.
  • Complete a 2-digit place value chart.
  • Add up 2-digit numbers.
  • Subtract multiples of 10 in the range 10-90 from multiples of 10 in the range 10-90.(CCSS)
  • Understand that the two digits of a 2-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones. (CCSS)

ACTIVITIES AND INSTRUCTION

  • Drag and Drop: Help Fynn put the spilled candies back in the box and count how many candies there are.
  • Interactive Lecture: Did you notice that ten candies make up a box? Students will recognize that ten ones make up a ten.
  • Place Value Activity 1: Count how many blocks there are and write down the tens and ones.
  • Place Value Activity 2: Roll the dice and pull out the same number of blocks. Write down how many tens and ones there are and complete the place value chart.
  • Place Value Activity 3: Spin the plates to get a 2-digit number. Visualize the number with blocks and break down the numbers.
  • 2-Digit Addition: Practice adding 2-digit numbers. Visualize the number with blocks and write down how many tens and ones there are. Let students practice adding numbers with the same place value.
  • Subtracting Tens: Practice subtracting multiples of 10. Roll the dice and visualize the numbers with blocks. Then write down the answer.
