Blood Type
Where does your blood type come from?
It’s hereditary. Blood type, same as eye color, is passed genetically from your parents.
In this content, students will practice their learning of Mendel's law of inheritance and understand how blood type is determined. They will also learn why they need to know their blood types for safe blood transfusions.
How it Works
- Students will fill in blank Punnett Squares to fill out the possible resulting offspring. Drag the possible blood types of their baby into the house.
- Learn to know what blood types are compatible with yours for blood transfusions and how your blood type can help recipients.. Drag the blood type that could be transfused to the person into the provided box.
- Draw a line to indicate the correct blood type that could be given as a transfusion.
Sample guide questions for the activities:
- What are all the possible blood types of their baby?
- Do you know what blood type is safe for you if you need a transfusion?
- Which blood type could be given as a transfusion? Can Type AB blood be given to a Type O patient?
