Shape Lesson 4: Cross Section of 3D

Form perception is the recognition of visual elements of objects, specifically those to do with shapes, patterns, and previously identified important characteristics.

By studying shapes, children learn so many skills that help them in other curriculum areas including reading, math, science, art, and visual-spatial thinking.

In the United States, national education standards for kindergarten include geometry skills such as identifying, describing, analyzing, comparing, creating and composing shapes.

We designed four files of learning shapes original content from giving preschoolers lots of practice with shapes helps them solidify their understanding of the 2D structures and up to middle school students an insight of learning cross-section of 3D shapes.

Instructions

Grade 6-8 students will learn about the cross-sections created from slicing 3D shapes. It’s spatial thinking that has been identified as important in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

  • Video-assisted Learning about slicing the 3D figures.
  • Teachers introduce the Cutting straight through a 3-dimensional shape results in a slice that is a familiar 2D shape.
  • 👉 Pop Quiz (only available for Education entities): Identify and name the 2D shape that is obtained from cutting straight through a 3Dl shape results. Students send answers to the teacher.
