All About Me
School is starting soon, it’s the perfect time to kick off the first day of school with a getting-to-know-you activity for students in the classroom.
This content activity allows students to express who they are to everyone for the beginning of the school year and beyond. Creating a self-portrait can help students develop better self-awareness about who they are to integrate social-emotional learning in the classroom. It also provides opportunities for students to make connections with each other.
ACTIVITIES:
- Watching the video to read the book Looking Like Me to guide students to think about “Who am I” and communicate the concept of every individual having a unique identity. (Teachers/students can have the book and read the story in the class.)
- Have students write a description about themselves.
- Have students draw a self-portrait “I AM ME”.
- Share and introduce to the whole class. The designs can be used to decorate bulletin boards for Back-To-School.
