Import questions

Use the Import question feature to convert your existing materials into ready-to-use interactive questions for your quiz. This eliminates the need to rebuild questions by hand. 

• The conversion can detect questions automatically from supported files, preserving images and diagrams in the process. 
• Once imported, questions are saved in Quiz Collection and readily accessible during class.

Supported files

You can import questions from several sources.

File sources

This feature currently supports importing files from the following sources:

• Google Drive 
  Connect a Google account, then browse and select files directly.
   
• OneDrive 
  Connect a Microsoft account, then browse and select files directly.
   
• Local 
  Upload a file from a local computer.

Import questions from Google Drive, OneDrive, or local drives.

Supported file types

The following file types can be imported.

Note the following behavior:

• Maximum file size is 10 MB.
• Only one file is allowed per import. 
• Only multiple-choice, true/false, and short-answer questions are supported. 
• For multiple-choice and true/false questions, make sure that all answer options are visible/included in the upload.

Sample questions

To minimize errors, ensure that the files to import contain clearly written questions, one after another, with the answer options included. For example:

Multiple choice 

Which planet is closest to the Sun? 

A. Earth   B. Mercury   C. Mars   D. Venus

True / False 

Water boils at 100 °C at sea level.

Short answer 

What is the area of the green figure? 
Each small square has a side length of 1 unit.  

We do not recommend importing the following: 

• A slide or PPT screenshot with no questions (e.g. a title slide or a content-only page) — there is nothing to parse.
• Lecture notes, teaching text, or reading passages that contain no actual questions.
• Multiple-choice or true/false questions without their answer options.
• Blurry or low-resolution images, or hard-to-read handwriting.
• Files over 10 MB or in an unsupported format (only jpg, png, pdf, docx).
• Question sets (multiple questions that share a common passage, chart, or stimulus)

Import questions

Follow the steps below to import questions.

1. In Hub, click Quiz collection from the left sidebar.
2. Click Import Questions.
    
3. Select a source: 
   1. Google Drive
   2. OneDrive
   3. Local
        
4. Browse and select the file to import.
5. The import process scans the file and detects questions automatically. Images, diagrams, and picture-based answer choices are preserved during this process.
    
6. Review the questions and select which ones to keep. To save the questions:
   1. Select a folder from the dropdown.
   2. Click the Save all button.

The imported questions are saved to Quiz Collection. Note the following behavior:

• Questions inside the Home folder will not be available during a live quiz.
• To make a question available for selection, move them to a folder.
• Before import, click the + New Folder link at the bottom to create a folder. 

Review imported questions

Before using questions in class, review questions to confirm the content was detected correctly.

• Questions with images can be reviewed to ensure diagrams and visuals carried over as expected.
• Click  Edit on any question to perform one of the following:
  • Modify question text
  • Update answer choices
  • Remove unnecessary options
  • Set the correct answer

Use questions within myViewBoard

After successful import, imported questions will now be accessible directly from within the myViewBoard app. Follow the steps below to dispatch questions to students during class.

1. Launch the myViewBoard app.
2. Sign in with a ViewSonic account.
    
3. On the main toolbar: 
   1. Toggle on the Quiz Tool icon.
   2. Select or create a class to allow students to join.
       
4. Click Quiz collection on the main toolbar.
   1. Select questions prepared in Hub.
   2. Click Start Questions to send the question to students. 
   3. Begin collecting responses.
