Pop Quiz
Use the Pop Quiz feature to create quick, interactive questions to assess student understanding in real-time. Use this tool to engage the class with fun, impromptu quizzes.
Launching Pop Quiz
To launch the Pop Quiz feature, perform the following:
- Click the Magic Box on the main toolbar.
- On the menu, locate and click the Pop Quiz icon.
Note that the menu has two tabs:- The Home tab displays all tools by category.
- The All Features tab displays all tools as a list.
- A new Pop Quiz window should open.
⚠️ Availability
Access to Pop Quiz is only available to:
- Users subscribed with a Pro plan
- Users under an Entity account
Start a Pop Quiz
Assuming that the Pop Quiz window is already open, perform the following:
- On the upper panel, write your question by hand. Since this panel does not accept typed text, use the following tools to manage your input:
- Write or draw your question
- Erase partial strokes

Reset the question panel.
- Another option is to simply use the canvas for your question:
- Write (or type) your question on the canvas.
- Click Hide question to collapse the upper panel.
- Give participants some time to read your question.
- Once you are ready to receive responses, tap Share .
- The Sharing popup should appear. Use this popup to display the URL to your myViewBoard portal so everyone can see.
Collect responses
Once your Pop Quiz is open and ready, ask your audience to interact with the pop quiz through your myViewBoard portal.
- If you have not done so already, perform one of the following to show the URL for your myViewBoard portal:
- Tap the myViewBoard name at the upper left of the myViewBoard window.
- Tap the QR code at the lower right of the Pop Quiz window.
- Once the popup appears, have participants perform one of the following to access the portal:

Visit the portal URL.
Launch a browser and type the URL. Recommended if you can easily share the URL by email, sms, or other messaging app. -
Scan the QR code.
Recommended if joining via Companion app. -
Type the Session ID.
- Sign in to myViewBoard.com first.
- Locate the myViewBoard tile and click Join a session.
- A new window asking for the Session ID appears.
- Type the myViewBoard name shown on the popup.

Visit the portal URL.
- Once your audience has access to your myViewBoard portal, instruct them to:
- Click the
Pop Quiz tile.
- On the next page, draw, write, or scribble their responses.
- Tap or click the Submit button.
- Click the
- Once they hit submit, their responses should appear on the Pop Quiz panel.

Review responses
Responses from participants will appear in real-time on the lower panel of the Pop Quiz window. To view a list of participants who have already sent responses, use the Notification panel.
- Click a cardto reveal or hide the response.
- Click More to show the response in a bigger window.
- Click Less to go back to panel view.
- Click Flip cards to reveal or hide all responses at the same time.
- Click Full view to have the responses panel occupy the full height of the window.
- Click Preferencesto view options for managing how responses are presented.
- Hide username. Hides the user name on the card.
- Limit 1 answer per user. Ensures that each participant can only send their answer once.
Once you are done with the Pop Quiz:
- Click Close to hide the Pop Quiz window. Note that this not reset the Pop Quiz and your question and answers will still be available if you launch the Pop Quiz window again
- Click New session to discard the current question and reset the state of the Pop Quiz window. Note that your question and all answers will be lost. This action cannot be undone.
Pop Quiz sessions are live instances created in real-time, and remain accessible as long as the myViewBoard app has not been closed or restarted. If you need to keep a record, click Save to export your Pop Quiz. The export process saves your question and all your student's answers as PNG files.
