Select Tool

The Select tool lets users pick, move, or resize objects on the myViewBoard canvas, with various options to organize and adjust content during use.

To set the Select Tool as the active tool, click the following icon on the main toolbar:

Select objects

To select objects, activate the Select tool from the main toolbar and perform one of the following:

• Click objects
  Recommended when mouse and keyboard is available.
  • Single: Click on an object. 
  • Multiple: Hold Ctrl then left-click on target objects.

• Draw a selection line
  Recommended when using a touch screen.
  • Single: Click-drag to draw a selection line across one object.
  • Multiple: Click-drag to draw a selection line across multiple objects.

Once objects are successfully selected, myViewBoard performs the following:

• Encloses the selected objects in a rectangle with circular handle bars at the sides.
• Displays an Adorning menu with applicable actions. 

Manipulate objects

After selection, users can perform the following:

• Move objects 
  Click, hold, and drag selected objects to reposition them.

• Resize objects 
  Use the handle points to resize selected objects:
  • Use the ‍circular handle points on the sides to stretch the object along the horizontal or vertical axis. Note that this action is available only if one object is selected. 
  • Use the  circular handle points where two edges meet to shrink or grow the object proportionally. If multiple objects are selected, they will all resize relative to the proportion of their sizes to each other.

• Rotate objects 
  Use the  rotation point to click-hold and drag in a circular motion to rotate the target object to a desired angle

Touch Surface 

On touch screen devices, objects can be manipulated without explicit selection:

• Move: Press-hold with one finger and drag
• Resize: Use two-finger pinch motion to resize selected objects
• Rotate: Use three fingers. Alternatively, you can hold with two fingers, then rotate with third.

Other behavior

The following actions are also available when the Select tool is active.

To move an object without triggering the Adorning menu: 

1. Click and hold the target object.
2. Without releasing your hold, drag the object immediately to the new position.

To copy an object using the Select tool:

1. Click the target object.
2. Press and hold Ctrl on your keyboard.
3. While pressing the key, click and hold the target object.
4. Without releasing your hold, drag the object to a new position.

To move an object without snapping to the alignment guides:

1. Click the target object.
2. Press and hold Shift on your keyboard.
3. While pressing the key, click and hold the target object.
4. Without releasing your hold, drag the object to a new position.
