Eraser

Use the Eraser tool to remove strokes and objects from the canvas. To set the Eraser as the active tool, click the following icon on the main toolbar:

Eraser options

To see all eraser options, click the eraser icon on the main toolbar again.



Stroke Eraser.
Draw over strokes made by the pen tool. Click the eraser icon twice to adjust the size of the erasing area.


Selection Eraser.
Use the lasso to draw a circle that contains all objects to erase. Once the click/tap is released, all objects inside the drawn circle are deleted.


Clear All Strokes.
Removes all strokes made by the pen tool.


Clear All.
Empties the canvas by removing all objects (strokes, shapes, and tools).



Note the following behavior:

  • To avoid erasing important objects, remember to Lock objects and strokes before using one of the erase tools.
  • You will not be able to erase an object if it is currently in Copy  mode, which is activated through its Adorning menu. You must first exit this mode to proceed with deletion.
  • Use the Undo and Redo icons to recover erased objects, as long as you are still in the same session.



Erase content types

Here’s how to erase specific content types on the canvas:


  • Pen strokes 
    Select theStroke Eraser and drag it over the strokes you want to remove.

  • Shapes, images, or text
    Use theSelection Eraser to lasso around what you want to erase.

  • Everything on the canvas
    ChooseClear All to wipe your canvas clean.


The Stroke Eraser and Clear All Strokes options cannot remove non-stroke objects like shapes, lines, tables, images, math tools, or sticky notes. To delete these objects: 


  • Use the Selection Eraser, or Clear All options. 
  • Select the object with the Selection Tool and choose Delete from the Adorning Menu.

 

Keep in mind, locked objects won’t be affected, so you can erase without worrying about accidentally deleting them.

Palm eraser 

This feature is only supported when using myViewBoard on the a ViewBoard device. 


  • With the palm eraser feature, gently glide your palm or the side of your hand on the canvas to erase objects. The eraser tool is not even required to be selected to activate the palm eraser. 
  • ANDROID EDLA CERTIFIED DEVICE LIMITATION. For users of the ViewBoard IFP52-2 or the VPC-A31-O1 OPS device, the palm eraser feature is not supported.
