Tools
A handy set of in‑class utilities built into ClassSwift to boost participation and pacing.
Before you start
You’re in an active lesson and students have joined.
Open the Tools menu
- On the in‑class toolbar, click Tools (tray icon).
- Choose Buzzer, Random Draw, or Timer.
Buzzer
Turn your class into a quick game-show style response.
- Tools → Buzzer.
- Ask your question, then click Start.
- Students tap the buzzer on their devices. The first to buzz appears at the top (top three show with medals).
- Click Start again to reset for the next question.
- Close the window when finished.
Tip: Use Buzzer to decide who answers first or to award quick participation points.
Random Draw
Pick a student at random.
- Tools → Random Draw.
- Click the draw button. A student’s name is displayed.
- Click Start again to draw another name.
- Close when done.
- Spinner
Bring excitement to your classroom with a colorful spinning wheel.
1.Tools → Spinner
- The spinner automatically includes all students who are present.
- If fewer students attend than the class capacity, the wheel only shows slices for those who joined.
2. Click Start. The wheel spins and randomly selects a student.
3. After a student is chosen:
- Click Remove to take them out of the pool.
- Or leave them in for another chance to be selected.
4. Repeat as needed.
5. Close the window when finished.
Tip: Leave selected students in the pool if you want them to stay engaged for multiple turns.
Timer / Stopwatch
Keep activities on pace.
- Tools → Timer.
- Choose Timer (countdown) or Stopwatch (count up).
- For Timer, set the minutes/seconds with the arrows.
- Click Start.
- When time ends (or you’re done), stop/close the window.
Tip: Great for think‑pair‑share, quizzes, and transitions.
