macOS system permission
Some users on macOS may experience issues when attempting to share their screen via Chrome or the sender application, as the capture stream can be blocked by system permissions. Sometimes, even after permissions are reset, screen sharing may still fail. To fix this, you’ll need to reset certain permissions and settings.
Set Sender permissions
If AirSync is unable to cast (or if the cast shows the macOS background only), follow the steps below to re-apply screen sharing permissions for the macOS sender:
- Exit the macOS AirSync sender.
- On your macOS device, navigate to to the following screen:
◦ Setting Privacy & Security Screen and System Audio Recording
- Under the Screen and System Audio Recording section:
- Locate and click the AirSync Sender entry to select the item.
- Click the icon to remove AirSync Sender from the list.
- Now add the entry again:
- Click the icon to add a new entry.
- Select AirSync Sender from the applications.
- Launch AirSync sender again and start casting.
Set Chrome permissions
Follow these steps to enable screen sharing on Google Chrome:
- If AirSync is unable to cast, the browser displays an alert page with a link to System Preferences.
- Follow the link to launch the Security & Privacy page under System settings.
- On the left panel, select Google Chrome to grant permission to record the contents of your screen.
(Optional) Make sure all other browsers that you are using with AirSync are also included and checked in the list.
- Click Quit now to apply the changes. Note that the system will force-close the browser.
- Re-launch the browser again and check if you can now successfully cast to AirSync.
