Installation quick start

This guide is for school/district IT administrators who need to enroll, deploy, and support the new myViewBoard v3.0 with the Quiz Tool and myViewBoard Hub.

System requirements

Verify that your environment meets the following requirements first.

  • Operating system
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, version 19041 (May 2020 Update) or later.

  • Supported language
    English (US) only.

  • Interactive Flat Panel (IFP) support
Supports any panel that can run myViewBoard 3.0. For more details, check the article below for a list of compatible models.

Other requirements:

  • A stable internet connection is required. Additional components will need to be downloaded after installation.
  • Users performing the installation must be a device Admin (for Windows) or device Owner (for Android).

Installation

The Quiz Tool is a native component of the latest myViewBoard v3.0. Admins can deploy the latest myViewBoard 3.0 as a fresh install, or update an existing 3.0 installation to the latest version.

To deploy as a new install, follow the steps below.

  1. Download the MSI installer from the the following URL.
  2. Run the installer and accept both the myViewBoard and ClassSwift EULAs.
  3. Launch myViewBoard 3.0.
  4. On the toolbar, turn on the Quiz Tool toggle.

To deploy to multiple devices across your network, follow the steps below.

Mass deployment (of the MSI installer) through GPO or Microsoft Intune follows the same process as myViewBoard 3.0. For more details, follow myViewBoard's official guides here:

 Deploying MSI (GPO)
  Deploying MSI via Intune

To update an existing installation, follow the steps below.

  1. Launch the myViewBoard app.
  2. Go to Account settings » About.
  3. Tap the Check for update button.
  4. After the update is complete, tap the Quiz Tool toggle.

Once the Quiz Tool toggle is turned on for the first time, myViewBoard will start downloading components required to run the Quiz Tool. Allow some time for the download to complete.

Deployment via Manager

For mass deployment to IFP devices, we recommend using Manager to deploy both the new myViewBoard app and the Quiz Tool component directly to the IFP. This ensures that teachers won't need to wait for the component download to complete when activating Quiz Tool for the first time.

Manager's App section will offer both the new myViewBoard app and the Quiz Tool component in supported regions. For instructions on how to deploy these apps using Manager, see the article below:

 Install apps via Manager

Since the Quiz Tool does not appear in the App tray after deployment, admins must perform the following to verify successful installation:

  1. Tap Settings to launch the settings app.
  2. Tap Apps then tap See all apps
  3. Scroll down and locate the myViewBoard Quiz Tool entry.

Note that the Quiz Tool listed here cannot be used on its own, and must be started from within myViewBoard. Additionally, the Quiz Tool will not be available in the myViewBoard installation if the IFP device it was deployed to is in a non-supported region.

Join the beta

If your region is not supported, the Quiz Tool is available through a Beta Program. To join this program, admins must contact their ViewSonic representative to add their school or district's Entity to a whitelist so users can update their myViewBoard apps to the beta version.

  1. Launch myViewBoard and sign in.

  2. If the enrollment was successful:
    1. Open the Settings menu.
    2. Click the Join Beta Program entry.
    3. Download and install the beta version.

  3. Launch the beta version.
  4. On the toolbar, turn on the Quiz Tool toggle.

Once the Quiz Tool toggle is turned on for the first time, myViewBoard will start downloading components required to run the Quiz Tool. Allow some time for the download to complete.

Leave the beta

If for any reason, a user decides to leave the beta program:

  • On Windows
Since the beta and production apps are separate programs, users can simply open the standard myViewBoard app. They can safely uninstall the beta app from the system.

  • On Android
Tap the Settings menu first, then tap Rollback to return to standard myViewBoard app.
