Sharing PowerPoint presentations
The following explains the differences in user experience in AirSync during full‑screen slide presentations and Presenter Mode.
Full‑Screen Slide Show
When using PowerPoint’s full‑screen presentation, Windows Sender, macOS Sender, and Web Sender behave similarly.
How to operate:
- Open your PowerPoint presentation file.
- In AirSync Sender, share the entire screen.
- Start the slide show.
- Touch feedback:
- Windows Sender and macOS Sender: support touch feedback. You can touch the ViewSonic IFP directly; touch input is sent back to your computer to control PowerPoint.
- Web Sender: does not support touch feedback.
Note: During a full‑screen presentation, both the presenter’s computer and the ViewSonic IFP display the active slide simultaneously.
Presenter Mode
PowerPoint’s Presenter Mode lets the presenter view the current slide, the next slide, speaker notes, and elapsed time on their computer, while the audience sees only the current slide on the IFP.
AirSync’s support for Presenter Mode differs between Windows/macOS Sender and Web Sender.
Windows Sender and macOS Sender (Standalone Releases)
These senders best support Presenter Mode because they offer screen extension and touch feedback.
How to operate
- In the AirSync Sender app, choose “Share entire extended desktop.”
- Open your PowerPoint presentation file.
- Enable Presenter Mode in PowerPoint:
- Go to Slide Show > Set Up Slide Show.
- Select Presented by Speaker.
- In Show On, choose the extended display (e.g., Monitor 2).
- Start the slide show. Slides appear full‑screen on the IFP; Presenter View appears on your computer.
- Touch feedback:
- Advance slides on the IFP: Touch the IFP; the input returns to your computer to advance slides.
- View notes on your computer: Use your laptop screen for notes, elapsed time, and next‑slide preview; control the presentation with your keyboard or mouse.
Advantages
- True dual‑screen experience: Separates presenter and audience views.
- High interactivity: Control slides by touching the IFP.
- Seamless control: Effortlessly switch between laptop and IFP.
Web Sender (airsync.net)
Due to Chrome‑based browser limitations, Web Sender cannot support separate presenter and audience views. Presenter Mode is not available.
Alternative solutions
- Share the entire screen: Presenter and audience see the same slides; notes are hidden.
-
Share an application window:Only the PowerPoint window is shared, protecting other content:
- Open your PowerPoint file and start the slide show.
- In AirSync Web Sender, select Share App, then choose the PowerPoint slideshow window.
-
Share a browser tab (PowerPoint Online):
- Open the slide file in PowerPoint Online.
- In Web Sender, share the browser tab containing the presentation.
- Start the slide show.
Disadvantages
- No true Presenter Mode: presenter notes cannot be viewed separately.
- No touch interactivity: slides must be controlled via computer.
- Privacy risk: sharing the entire screen may expose other content.
